Ilham Rouissi is a dancer and a teacher that is passionate about her art! Her path has always led her to dance which is now an integral part of her life.
After 12 years of rock’n’roll dancing, Ilham discovered salsa in May 2000. Her passion for salsa grew even deeper at the Los Angeles Salsa Congress. Back in Montreal, Gil Sanchez took her under her wing and trained her. Ilham followed classes in every dance style – from technique to teaching. She didn’t stop there, she continued to expand her knowledge and followed social dance classes with Lison Nepveu.
Her knowledge of the dance environment, her integrity, her simplicity and her talent in dance and in event organization, led her to collaborating in different projects such as the “Tribute to Eddie Torres, the Mambo King” and the first edition of the “Montreal Salsa Convention”. She also initiated the remarkable performance of 42 dancers at the Spanish Harlem Orchestra show during the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2003.
One of her students recently wrote to her: “Thank you for your generosity. You know how to teach and it is a pleasure to be your student. It is always fun and I enjoy myself very much.” |
